Lu Zuqian

A scholar from the Southern Song Dynasty in China. He was from Wuzhou (Jinhua County, Zhejiang Province). His pen name was Bogong, his pen name was Torai, his posthumous name was Sei, and later he was called Zhongliang. He was raised in a privileged environment, with ancestors including high-ranking officials during the Northern Song Dynasty such as Meng Zheng (944-1011), Yi Jian (979-1044), Gong Bi (1007-1073), Gong Zhu (1018-1089), and Haowen (1064-1131). He studied under Lin Zhiqi (1112-1176) and Wang Yingchen, and had Zhu Xi (Zhu Xi) and Zhang Shu as friends, acquiring a wide range of academic knowledge. He passed the Jinshi examination in 1163. He was involved in academic positions for a long time, from professor of Southern Outer School of Buddhist Studies to doctor of Grand Studies, editor of the National History Academy, and examiner of the Annals of Records Academy. In 1175, he presided over the Ehu Society to mediate the academic interests of Zhu Xi and Lu Xiangshan (Jiuyuan). His works include the 32-volume "Records of Poetry Recited by the Lü Family School," the 25-volume "Discussions by Mr. Donglai's Left School," and the 40-volume "Collection of Writings by Mr. Donglai of Lu," among others. His most famous work is the "Jin Sin Lu," which he co-authored with Zhu Xi.

中国、南宋(なんそう)の学者。婺州(ぶしゅう)（浙江(せっこう)省金華県）の人。字(あざな)は伯恭(はくきょう)、号は東莱(とうらい)、諡(おくりな)は成(せい)、のちに忠亮(ちゅうりょう)。北宋期に高官を務めた、蒙正(もうせい)（944―1011）、夷簡(いかん)（979―1044）、公弼(こうひつ)（1007―1073）、公著（1018―1089）、好問（1064―1131）を祖先にもつ恵まれた環境に育ち、林之奇(りんしき)（1112―1176）、汪応辰(おうおうしん)らに師事し、朱熹(しゅき)（朱子）、張栻(ちょうしょく)を友として広い学識を備えた。1163年進士に及第。南外宗学教授から太学博士、国史院編修官、実録院検討官と学問に関係する職に長くかかわった。1175年には朱子と陸象山(りくしょうざん)（九淵(きゅうえん)）の学問の調停を図るため鵝湖(がこ)の会を主宰している。著書に『呂氏家塾読詩記』32巻、『東莱先生左氏博議』25巻、『呂東莱先生文集』40巻などがあるが、朱子との編著の『近思録』はとくに有名である。
