Vulca (English spelling)

Vulca (English spelling)
An Etruscan sculptor from Baio (anciently Veii) in Italy. According to Pliny the Elder, during the reign of the Roman King Tarquinius Priscus, he created a four-horsed chariot for the Temple of Jupiter on the Capitoline Hill in Rome. However, from a stylistical point of view, his active period is thought to have been between 510 and 490 BCE. He also created statues of Jupiter and Hercules. The statue of Apollo, discovered in Baio in 1914, is a painted clay statue (coroplastic, now in the Villa Giulia Museum) from the late Archaic period, and conveys the vitality of its form and the formality characteristic of the Archaic period.
