Japanese: 有節植物 - ゆうせつしょくぶつ（英語表記）articulates

A class of vascular plants, a group of plants with clearly defined nodes and what are commonly called "horsetails." Modern plants consist of one genus and 15 species. Also known as wedge-leaf plants, orbicular-leaf plants, and horsetail plants. In the latter half of the Paleozoic era, they took on a variety of forms, and woody plants (such as reeds) that were central to forests also flourished. Stems have clearly defined nodes and internodes, and inside the internodes, two types of airways are arranged concentrically around a central medulla cavity. Roots emerge from buds on underground stems that crawl underground. Leaves grow in whorls and stick to each other to form sheaths, with free teeth at the end.

維管束植物の1綱で，節がはっきりし，俗にいう“つくしん坊”をつける一群の植物。現生植物は1属15種からなる。別名楔葉（けつよう∥せつよう）植物，輪葉植物，トクサ植物。古生代後半には多様な型をとり，森林の中心となる木本(蘆木（ろぼく）など)も繁栄していた。茎は節と節間がはっきりし，節間の内部は中央の髄腔をとり囲むようにして2種の気道が同心円状にならぶ。根は地中をはう地下茎の芽から出る。葉は輪生し，互いにくっつきあって鞘（さや）をつくり，先は遊離した歯片である。
