A town in Kasai District, Hokkaido. It is located to the west of Obihiro City and is served by the Nemuro Main Line and the Doto Expressway. The town is bordered by the Hidaka Mountains in the west, the Tokachi Plain in the central and eastern parts, and the Tokachi River crosses the northern part. It produces beans, potatoes, and wheat, and food processing is also thriving. Many people commute to Obihiro City. 513.76 km2 . Population: 18,905 (2010).
