A type of pasta that is large and cylindrical, about 2-4 cm in diameter and 10 cm long. Also, a dish made with it. The dish is stuffed with ingredients made from minced meat, vegetables, cheese, etc., topped with various sauces and cheese, and baked in the oven. In addition to using cylindrical pasta, it is often made by rolling the stuffing into square pasta with sides of about 8-12 cm. ◇The word comes from the Italian word "cannello" which means "tube." パスタの一種で、直径2~4cmくらい、長さ10cmくらいの大型の筒状のもの。また、これを用いた料理。料理は、ひき肉・野菜・チーズなどで作った具を中に詰め、各種のソースやチーズをかけてオーブンで焼いたもの。筒状になっているものを用いるほか、1辺8~12cmくらいの四角形のパスタを用いて、詰め物を巻き込んで作ることも多い。◇「管」の意のイタリア語「cannello」に由来する。
