Minamoto no Akifusa - Minamoto no Akifusa

Japanese:
Minamoto no Akifusa - Minamoto no Akifusa
Year of death: 1094.10.16 (Kaho 1.9.5)
Year of birth: Choreki 1 (1037)
A nobleman in the late Heian period. Known as Rokujo Udaijin. Junior First Rank. The second son of Udaijin Michifusa, his mother was Fujiwara no Michinaga's daughter Takashi. He served as the head of the Chamberlain for Emperor Go-Reizei for five years, and at the age of 25, he became a councilor. Thanks to his close relationship with the regent Fujiwara no Yorimichi's family, he rose steadily through the ranks, and in 1083, he became Udaijin alongside his brother Toshifusa, who was the Left Minister, which made him a "tremendous threat to the Fujiwara clan." His daughter, Masashi, was adopted by Fujiwara no Michizane and married Emperor Shirakawa, giving birth to Emperor Horikawa, and he became Emperor Horikawa's maternal grandfather, surpassing his brother and becoming the head of the Murakami Genji clan during the reign of Emperor Shirakawa and Emperor Horikawa (1072-1107). Upon hearing the news of his death, Emperor Horikawa was so sad that he did not come out to eat. He was also active in the world of poetry. His diary includes the Rokujo Ufu-ki (some excerpts). He had a villa near Toba Imperial Villa in southern Kyoto, and the place name, Kuga (Fushimi Ward, Kyoto City), later became the origin of the family name of his descendants (a branch of the Murakami Genji clan), the Kuga clan.
