Minase

Japanese: 水無瀬 - みなせ
Minase
[1] = Minasegawa (Minase River) (1) [2] [1] The old name of the area around Hirose, Shimamoto-cho, Mishima-gun, Osaka Prefecture. Located on the border with Yamashiro Province (Kyoto Prefecture), it was a hunting ground for the emperor during the Heian period, and the retired Emperor Gotoba's villa was also located there. Minase Shrine is located here. [2] Noh play. Fourth piece. Kita school. Author unknown. Tameyo of Minase in Settsu Province had become a monk and lived at Mount Koya, but when he returned to the village of Minase, longing for his hometown, he found a young daughter and son who, not knowing that they were father, welcomed him into their home and prayed for the repose of their dead mother. As Tameyo recited the sutra, suppressing his desire to identify himself as father and daughter, the ghost of his wife appeared and blamed his father for his heartlessness, but he eventually reunited the father and son and was able to attain nirvana himself. Old name: "Tameyo".
