A pass on the border between Argentina and Chile, south-southwest of Mount Aconcagua in the southern Andes. It is 3,855 meters above sea level. The Trans-Andean Railway, which once ran between Mendoza in Argentina and Santiago in Chile, passed through here, but now there is a tunnel for automobiles.
