Maitreya

An Indian Buddhist philosopher. Transliterated as Maitreya or freely translated as Ts'ishi. He is considered the founder of the Yogacara school and the teacher of Asanga. He is often confused with Maitreya Bodhisattva, but there is a theory that he was a real person. インドの仏教哲学者。弥勒(みろく)と音訳，慈氏と意訳される。唯識(ゆいしき)派の始祖とされ，無著(むぢゃく)の師という。弥勒菩薩と混同されるが，実在の人とする説がある。《大乗荘厳経論》などがその著とされるが，《瑜伽師地論(ゆがしじろん)》の著者については諸説ある。
