An Indian Buddhist philosopher. Transliterated as Maitreya or freely translated as Ts'ishi. He is considered the founder of the Yogacara school and the teacher of Asanga. He is often confused with Maitreya Bodhisattva, but there is a theory that he was a real person. His works include the Mahayana Sutra Treatise, but there are various theories about the author of the Yogacarabhumi-stra. Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
