Mr. Makita

Japanese: 蒔田氏 - まいたうじ
Mr. Makita
Early modern daimyo and hatamoto. Born in Owari Province. Hirosada served the Toyotomi clan and held a fief of 10,000 koku. He was temporarily stripped of his fief for joining the Western Army in the Battle of Sekigahara, but was later granted over 10,000 koku in Asao, Bitchu. However, in 1636 (Kan'ei 13), Sadamasa became a hatamoto with a fief of over 8,310 koku through a division of the land. His son Sadayuki and subsequent generations received fiefs of over 7,700 koku. In 1863 (Bunkyu 3), Hirotaka was elevated to 10,000 koku due to his achievements in guarding the city of Edo, and returned to daimyo status. After the Meiji Restoration, he was made a viscount.
