Coins minted from 1706 to 1711 (3rd to 8th years of the Hoei era). The purpose of these coins was to correct the gold and silver ratio caused by the recoinage during the Genroku era, and over a five-year period, silver coins were recoined four times and gold coins were recoined once, including Nitsuhocho silver, Mameban silver, Eijicho silver, Mitsuhocho silver, koban, and ichibu silver. As these coins were of lower quality than the Genroku gold and silver coins, the currency system became confused. In 1712, silver merchants were purged for allegedly making unfair profits from the recoinage, and the Shotoku gold and silver coins, which were good quality coins, were recoined.
