Ben Hogan
1912‐97
American professional golfer. His real name was William Benjamin Hogan. He was born in Fort Worth, Texas. He started playing golf after he turned 20, and won his first PGA Championship in 1946. In 1948, he won the U.S. Open and the PGA Championship. Just as he was reaching the peak of his career, in December 1949, he was seriously injured in a car accident, breaking ribs and bones in his leg. It was rumored that he would never be able to recover, but thanks to his strong will, he made a miraculous recovery and won the U.S. Open in 1950, impressing his fans.
