Bench test

Among chemical process development tests, this is a laboratory-scale test that is smaller in scale than a pilot plant test. Another test that is performed in a laboratory is the beaker test, but while a beaker test usually tests only the reaction characteristics and separation performance individually in a beaker, a bench test sets up a continuous flow process that is the same as the actual process, and directly tests the performance of the entire process as a system. Once the bench test is completed, it is possible to analyze the data and run computer simulations to design the actual process.

化学プロセスの開発試験のうち，パイロットプラントテストより規模が小さく，実験室規模で行われるもの。実験室で行われるテストとしてはほかにビーカーテストがあるが，通常，ビーカーテストがビーカー中で反応特性や分離性能だけを個別に試験するのに対し，ベンチテストは，実際のプロセスと同じ流通系連続プロセスを組んで，プロセス全体のシステムとしての性能を直接試験する。ベンチテストが終われば，そのデータを解析し，コンピューターシミュレーションにかけて，実際のプロセスを設計することは可能である。
