A church in the Westminster district of London, officially called the Collegiate Church of Saint Peter. Since William I (the Conqueror), it has been the place of coronation for successive British kings and queens. It originated as a church dedicated to Peter in the 7th century and belonged to the Benedictine Order. In the mid-11th century, Edward the Confessor built a Norman-style church. In the mid-13th century, Henry III remodeled it (consecrated in 1269) in the French Gothic style modeled after Reims Cathedral, which became the basis for the current building.

ロンドンのウェストミンスター区にある教会で，正称は，セント･ピーター教会Collegiate Church of Saint Peter。ウィリアム1世(征服王)以来，歴代イギリス国王(女王)戴冠の場所となった。7世紀にペテロをまつった教会を起源とし，ベネディクト会に属した。11世紀中葉，エドワード懺悔王がノルマン様式の教会を建立。13世紀半ば，ヘンリー3世によりランス大聖堂にならうフランス･ゴシック様式で改築(1269献堂)がなされ，それが現在の建物の基礎となった。
