Born: July 31, 1865 in Aix-en-Provence
[Died] August 17, 1933. Arte d'Ason French scholar of religion and literature. In 1882 he joined the Society of Jesus and contributed to the society's journal, Études. In 1905 he became a secular priest and devoted himself to the study of spirituality. In 1923 he became a member of the Académie Française. His main works include L'Histoire littéraire du sentiment religieux en France (Literary History of Religious Sentiments in France) (11 volumes, 1816-1833), Poésie pure (Pure Poetry) (26), and Prière et poésie (Prayers and Poetry) (26).
