Wimbledon Tennis Tournament - Wimbledon Tennis Tournament
The world's oldest tennis tournament, first held in 1877, is officially called the Lawn Tennis Championships on Grass. It is held at the All England Tennis Club in Wimbledon, a suburb of London, and is generally called the Wimbledon Tournament. The first tournament had 22 men's participants. It started out with singles only, but doubles was added, and in 1984 a women's event was added. Since 1913, five events have been held: men's and women's singles, doubles, and mixed doubles.

1877年に始まった世界最古のテニス・トーナメント。正式名称はLawn Tennis Championships on Grass。ロンドン郊外ウィンブルドンWimbledonの全英テニス・クラブで行われ,一般にウィンブルドン大会と呼ばれる。第1回大会の参加者は男子22人。シングルスのみでスタートしたが,ダブルスが追加され,84年には女子種目も増設,1913年からは男女シングルスおよびダブルス,ミックス・ダブルスの5種目が実施されている。
