Dino Buzzati

Dino Buzzati

Italian novelist. After graduating from the University of Milan, he worked for a major newspaper in Milan and worked as a journalist for the rest of his life. He had many experiences as a correspondent in various parts of the world, and his experiences in the African desert in particular became a major motif in his creations. His debut work, "Barnabo of the Mountains" (1933), attracted attention, and in 1940, "The Desert of the Tatars" blossomed his talents, establishing him as a storyteller with a unique sensibility, where allegory and reality reached a high level of tension. He continued to publish works such as "Seven Messengers" (1942) and "Sixty Short Stories" (1958), which earned him the nickname "the Italian Kafka." On the other hand, he also wrote works in the realist series about the lives of modern city dwellers, such as "A Love" (1963). His hobby of mountain climbing was evident in his works, and he was also a skilled and barefoot painter, writing children's illustrations and even working on stage art, making him a truly versatile writer.
