Fujiwara no Michizane - The Fujiwara

He was a nobleman in the late Heian period. He was the third son of the regent Yorimichi. His mother was Kishi, the daughter of Inaba no Kami Fujiwara no Taneshige. In 1055 (Tenki 3), he became Jusanmi (Jusanmi), in 1069 (Enkyu 1), he became the Left Minister, and in 1075 (Joho 2), he became the Regent to Emperor Shirakawa after the death of his uncle Norimichi. In 1086 (Otoku 3), he became the Regent when Emperor Horikawa, the son of his adopted daughter, Kenshi, ascended to the throne. In 1088 (Kanji 2), he became the Grand Minister, and in 1090, he changed from Regent to Regent. In 1104 (Kaho 1), he handed over the position of Kanpaku to his eldest son, Moromichi, and in January 1101 (Kōwa 3), due to illness, he became a monk (under the posthumous Buddhist name Hokaku) at his villa in Uji, where he passed away on February 13th. He was called Kyogokudono and Go-Ujidono. During his time as regent, he did not resist the expansion of Emperor Shirakawa's power, which was one of the factors behind the establishment of the cloistered government. He excelled in poetry, music, and wrote a diary called "Kyōgoku Kanpaku-ki" and a family anthology called "Kyōgoku Zenkanpaku-shu".
