A poet of the late Heian period. Son of Tsunehira of the Ononomiya lineage. His biological mother is said to be the daughter of Takashina Shigetsuna and Ise no Taifu. His father was a provincial governor and had economic power, and his elder brother Michimune succeeded him. Michitoshi took advantage of the trend of the time for the provincial governor class to gain the trust of Emperor Shirakawa, and played an active role as a trusted vassal, eventually rising to the rank of Jusanmi Sangi Udaiben. In 1075 (Shoho 2), he was ordered to compile an imperial anthology, and in 1086 (Otoku 3), he compiled Goshuishū. This anthology, based on the theme of "a beautiful style of poetry," sparked much debate in the world of poetry. In the process of completing Goshuishū, he asked Minamoto no Tsunenobu for his opinion in the Goshuishū Mondō. In 87, he made minor revisions to the collection and created a table of contents and a preface. After this, he served on many public occasions and was highly regarded as a capable official. He was knowledgeable about the customs of the court and excelled in Chinese poetry and prose, and was praised on a par with Oe no Masafusa. His waka poems appear in the poetry contests held in 1075 and 1078, as well as in the imperial anthologies published after Goshuishū. His ideas and expressions are new, but many of his poems tend to be intellectual. His poetry theory appears in his judgments on the Michimune Asono Women's Poetry Contest, in which he places great importance on poems that are "poetic" and "rare." 平安後期の歌人。小野宮(おののみや)流の経平(つねひら)の子。実母は高階(たかしな)成順と伊勢大輔(いせのたいふ)との女(むすめ)であるともいう。父は受領(ずりょう)で経済力があり、その地位は兄通宗(みちむね)が継ぎ、通俊は、受領階層が時を得た趨勢(すうせい)に乗じて白河院に信任され、近臣として活躍し、昇進して従(じゅ)三位参議右大弁に至った。1075年(承保2)勅撰(ちょくせん)集の撰者を命ぜられ、86年(応徳3)『後拾遺(ごしゅうい)集』を撰進した。「ひとへにをかしき風体」を基調としたこの集は、歌壇に多くの論議を呼び起こした。『後拾遺集』完成への過程で源経信(つねのぶ)の意見を問うた『後拾遺問答』がある。87年に集を小改訂し、目録、序を作成。この後は多くの公事(くじ)に奉仕、能吏としての評価が高かった。有職(ゆうそく)故実に詳しく、漢詩文に優れ、大江匡房(おおえのまさふさ)と並称された。和歌は承保(じょうほう)2年(1075)、承暦(じょうりゃく)2年(1078)以下の歌合、『後拾遺集』以下の勅撰集にみえる。趣向や表現に新しさが感じられるが、理知的な傾向の歌が多い。歌論は「通宗朝臣(あそんの)女子達歌合(むすめたちのうたあわせ)」の判詞(はんし)にみえ、「歌めく」「めづらし」を重んじている。承徳(じょうとく)3年8月16日没。 [井上宗雄] あなじ吹く瀬戸(せと)の潮合(しほあひ)に舟出(ふなで)してはやくぞ過ぐる佐屋形(さやかた)山を 『井上宗雄著『平安後期歌人伝の研究』(1978・笠間書院)』 出典 小学館 日本大百科全書(ニッポニカ)日本大百科全書(ニッポニカ)について 情報 | 凡例 |
