Year of death: September 19, 8th year of the Enryaku period (October 12, 789) Year of birth: Jinki 4 (727) An aristocrat of the Nara period. The eldest son of Otomaro, the fourth son of Fujiwara no Muchimaro. His mother was the daughter of Ishikawa Takemaro. He was originally named Kuromaro, and later changed his name to Korekuni. In 761, he was appointed Junior Fifth Rank and Daifu of Jingi. After serving as Harima no Kami, Saeji no Kami, Shikibu Daifu, and Harumiya no Daifu, he became a Councillor in 774. From Dainagon, he was promoted to Udaijin, the head of the Imperial Court, in 783. He died as Udaijin Junior Second Rank and Chue no Taisho, and was posthumously awarded the rank of Juichii. According to his posthumous biography, he was a man of dignified character, well versed in government affairs, and highly insightful.
