He created the four-stringed kokyū, and lived in Edo, where he established the Fujiue school. In addition to the original kokyū music, it developed in conjunction with Yamada-ryū sokyoku (Japanese koto music). He was appointed as an inspector in 1736 (the first year of the Genbun era).
