A Christian weekly newspaper (1891-1942). Uemura Masahisa published the Gospel Weekly (1890-91), but was banned after publishing an editorial about Uchimura Kanzo's disrespect incident, and so he started publishing this paper. It mainly carried editorials about the latest developments in the Church of Christ in Japan. At the time of the annexation of Korea, it praised the national spirit of the Koreans, and was banned. After Uemura's death, Sawa Wataru published it. It ceased publication in 1933, but was relaunched four months later, and in 1942 was merged with the Japan Christian Newspaper, the official newspaper of the United Church of Christ in Japan.
