Japanese: イワサザイ(岩鷯) - イワサザイ(英語表記)New Zealand wren
New Zealand wren (Iwasazai)
A general term for birds belonging to the passerine order Acanthisittidae family, or one of these species. This family consists of four species endemic to New Zealand, one of which is extinct. All are small birds about 10 cm long, with particularly short tail feathers and an overall body shape similar to that of a wren. The three extant species are olive or green from the head to the back and upper parts of the wings. The neck to abdomen of the green wren is white, while the Acanthisittidae is pale yellowish-white, and the peregrine wren has a white neck and a pale bluish-white chest and abdomen.
