Hallam, Henry

Born July 9, 1777 in Windsor, Berkshire
[Died] January 21, 1859. Penshurst, Kent. British historian. After graduating from Oxford University in 1799, he opened a barrister's office. He then devoted himself to historical research, writing works such as The View of the State of Europe during the Middle Ages (1818), Constitutional History of England (27), and Introduction to the Literature of Europe in the 15th, 16th and 17th Centuries (37-39). He was a lifelong supporter of the Whig Party and advocated the abolition of the slave trade.

Hallam, Arthur Henry

Died: September 15, 1833. Vienna. English poet and essayist. Son of H. Hallam. He was a close friend of Tennyson, whose In Memoriam was a lament for Hallam, who died in Vienna at a young age. He also wrote a posthumous collection of his writings, Remains (1834).
