Hanyu-zaka

Japanese:
Hanyu-zaka
A slope where the ancient Tajihi Road crosses the Habikino Hills from east to west. It is believed to be in Habikino City, Osaka Prefecture. According to a tale about Emperor Richu in the Kojiki and Nihon Shoki, after the death of Emperor Nintoku, the crown prince (later Emperor Richu) was attacked by Prince Sumiyoshinaka and passed Hanyuzaka on his way to Yamato after fleeing from Naniwa Palace (present-day Chuo Ward, Osaka City). From Naniwa, the Naniwa Daido Road ran south and intersected with the Tajihi Road near Kanaoka Shrine in present-day Sakai City, leading to Yamato. The Tajihi Road, which appears in the entry for March 649 in the Nihon Shoki, may also refer to Hanyuzaka. There is a theory that it was located in present-day Nonoue, but there is also a theory that it was located further south in the vicinity of Habikino 1-2-chome.
