A general term for minerals with the basic chemical composition of vanadate V ₂ O ₅ ･ n H ₂ O. They are closely related to phosphate minerals and arsenate minerals, and phosphorus and arsenic may replace some of the vanadium atoms in the crystal structure. Many of them have vivid colors such as yellow, orange, yellow-green, and brown. A representative example is vanadinite Pb ₅ (VO ₄ ) ₃ Cl. Important resources of vanadium and uranium include carnotite K ₂ (UO ₂ ) ₂ (VO ₄ ) ₂ ･3H ₂ O and tyuyamunite Ca(UO ₂ ) ₂ (VO ₄ ) ₂ ･5-8H ₂ O, which are the main minerals in sandstone-type uranium deposits on the Colorado Plateau in the United States.

バナジン酸V₂O₅･nH₂Oの塩としての基本化学組成をもつ鉱物の総称。リン酸塩鉱物，ヒ酸塩鉱物とは近縁で，結晶構造中のバナジウム原子の一部を置き換えて，リン，ヒ素が入ることもある。黄，橙，黄緑，褐色など，鮮やかな色を呈するものが多い。代表種は褐鉛鉱Pb₅(VO₄)₃Clなどである。バナジウムおよびウランの資源として重視されるものには，カルノー石K₂(UO₂)₂(VO₄)₂･3H₂Oやツヤムン石tyuyamunite Ca(UO₂)₂(VO₄)₂･5～8H₂Oなどがあり，アメリカのコロラド高原の砂岩型ウラン鉱床では主要な鉱物。
