A humorous book consisting of 5 volumes and 15 books. Published between 1820 (Bunsei 3) and 1849 (Kaei 2). The first four volumes were written by Takitei Rijō and illustrated by Keisai Eisen and Utagawa Kunisada. The first five volumes were written by Ippitsuan Shufu and illustrated by Utagawa Kuniyoshi, and the middle and last five volumes were written by Yohōtei Shidanari and illustrated by Utagawa Yoshitsuna. The story depicts, with dirty, low-class humor, the comedy of the lazy group of protagonist Sajiro, Sotsuhachi, Abataro, Noromatsu, Demesuke, Zuburoku, Donshichi, and Ganshichi, who fail one farce after another, starting with a cherry blossom viewing party. This is a representative late Edo comedy book that depicts the decadent leisure life of Edo citizens in the final days.
