A former town in Nasu County, eastern Tochigi Prefecture. It occupies the eastern bank of the Naka River midstream and is mostly hilly. Tobacco cultivation has been thriving since the Edo period, mainly in Oyamada-go. Koisago pottery is a specialty of the town. 栃木県東部,那須郡の旧町。那珂(なか)川中流の東岸を占め大部分は丘陵地。江戸時代から大山田郷を中心にタバコ栽培が盛んであった。小砂(こいさご)焼を特産。2005年10月,那須郡小川町と合併し町制,那珂川町となる。151.68km2。1万3873人(2003)。
