An ancient city in northeastern India. Located on the south bank of the Ganga River, it is part of the state of Bihar. It has rice and sugar milling industries and is a distribution center for the surrounding rice, cotton, and wheat. Champanagara, believed to be the site of Champa, the capital of Angga, one of the 16 great kingdoms during the Buddha's time, is 7 km west.
