A tale of a conversation. Written by Tenjiku Ronin (Hiraga Gennai). Published in 1763 (13th year of the Horeki era). Five volumes. This is Hiraga Gennai's first novel, and it seems that he started writing novels because he had become a ronin two years earlier. It is based on the incident that occurred in the same year in which actor Ogino Yaegiri drowned while boating on the Sumida River. King Enma of Hell falls in love with actor Segawa Kikunojo and commands the Dragon King to bring him to Hell. The Dragon King assigns the task to a kappa, who disguises himself as a young samurai and approaches Kikunojo while he is boating on the Sumida River.

談義本。天竺浪人(平賀源内)作。1763年(宝暦13)刊。5巻。平賀源内の最初の小説で，彼は2年前浪人となった気安さから小説も書き出したと思われる。同年に俳優荻野八重桐が隅田川で舟遊び中に溺死したという事件があり，これを基に書いたものである。地獄の閻魔（えんま）大王が俳優瀬川菊之丞にほれ，これを地獄に連れてくるよう竜王に命じる。竜王はその役目を河童に言いつけ，河童は若侍に変じて隅田川に舟遊び中の菊之丞に近づく。
