A fairy tale from the Muromachi period. The author is unknown. The story is about an old mouse who lives near Horikawa-in in Shijo, Kyoto, who makes a promise with a human girl to save his descendants from the realm of animals, but when things don't go as he intended, he is inspired and climbs Mount Koya. 室町時代成立の御伽草子。作者不詳。内容は,京都四条堀河院のあたりに住む老鼠が,人間の娘と契りを結んで畜生道から子孫を救おうと志すが,結局意のごとくならず,発心して高野山に登るという話。いわゆる怪婚説話に仏教色の付加されたもの。
