Japanese: 人名制 - にんみょうせい

The jinmyo system was seen in the Sanuki Shiwaku Islands (Marugame City) during the Edo period. The jinmyo were 650 boatmen from Shiwaku Island who were granted land survey land tax of 1,250 koku by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in 1590 (Tensho 18), and their numbers were distributed in the range of 90 to 7 among 20 villages in the Shiwaku Islands, including Tomari and Kasashimaura on the main island. In reality, the land was often divided and transferred hereditarily as a stock. The jinmyo were granted land ownership rights to the islands and were guaranteed fishing rights in the surrounding seas in exchange for performing shipwork and other duties as official boatmen for the Tokugawa Shogunate.

江戸時代，讃岐塩飽（しわく）諸島(丸亀市)にみられた人名の制度。人名とは1590年(天正18)，豊臣秀吉から検地高1250石の領知を認められた塩飽島中船方650人のことで，その数は本島の泊，笠島浦をはじめ塩飽諸島の20の浦々に90から7の範囲で配分されていた。実際には分割所持する場合が多く，株化して世襲譲渡された。人名は徳川幕府の御用船方として船役･加子（かこ）役を負担する代りに島の領知権を安堵され，周辺海域の漁場の権益も保証された。
