Southern Song - Nanso

Japanese: 南宋 - なんそう

1127〜1279
This refers to the latter half of the Song dynasty, after the Jin invasion (Jingkang Rebellion, 1126-27) caused a clan of the Northern Song dynasty (Gao Song) to move their capital to Hangzhou (Lin'an) in Jiangnan. They continued to suffer from oppression from the Jin, but they managed to suppress the pro-war faction, chose the path of peace, and concluded a peace agreement between the Jin and their ministers in 1142. The Huai River became the border, and the country's land area was reduced by half, but they developed Jiangnan and prospered economically. In 1279, they were defeated by the invading Yuan army of Kublai Khan at the Battle of Yashan, and the Southern Song dynasty was destroyed.

宋の後半期の呼称
金の侵入（靖康の変，1126〜27）によって北宋の一族（高宋）が江南の杭州（臨安）に都を移した以後をいう。その後も金の圧迫に悩むが，主戦派を抑え，和平の道を選び，金と金君宋臣の和議を結ぶ（1142）。淮水が国境となって国土は半減したが，江南を開発し，経済的には繁栄した。1279年，侵攻してきたフビライの元軍に厓山の戦いで破れ，南宋は滅んだ。
