A town in Yubari County, Hokkaido. The eastern part is hilly, and the western part was a low, marshy area surrounded by rivers and swamps, but was reclaimed after the Yubari River was rerouted in 1896. The fertile, arable land is extensive, and fruit trees and field crops are cultivated. Dairy farming is also practiced in the southern part of the hilly area.
