Trolley - Torokko

A four-wheeled handcart for transporting soil and sand that runs on light rail tracks. It is used in civil engineering work. It is thought to be a corrupted version of truck. The track gauge is 606 to 752 mm, commonly known as the trolley gauge. In the past, everything except the wheels was made of wood, but in recent years, it has become possible to make one out of iron, with a reversible loading platform, and it is pulled by small electric or diesel locomotives.

軽便軌道を走る土砂運搬用の四輪単車の手押し車。土木工事に使用される。truckから転訛(てんか)したものと思われる。軌間は俗にトロッコゲージとよばれる606～752ミリメートルである。かつては車輪以外はすべて木製であったが、近年は鉄製で荷台が反転できるようになり、小型の電気機関車やディーゼル機関車に牽引(けんいん)されるようになった。
