Triangle - Triangle (English spelling)

It is a type of idiophone. It is simply a long, cylindrical metal rod bent into an equilateral triangle, one corner of which is hung from a string and struck with a beater. It produces a high, clear sound, but since there is a slit in one corner of the triangle, it does not have a clear pitch. As an orchestral instrument, it can produce a loud sound by striking the base hard, or a tremolo by moving the beater back and forth inside the corner of the triangle. It is also an instrument that can produce a variety of other tones depending on the performer's ingenuity. A representative piece that makes effective use of this is Liszt's Piano Concerto No. 1 (premiered in 1852, commonly known as the "Triangle Concerto").
