This manor was located in the mountains of northern Iga, in the Tomoda River basin. It is believed to have originally been a village formed by the development of the wilderness within Yufune-sho, but in the mid-11th century, it was incorporated into Tamataki Soma, a Todaiji temple property, when its residents became its owners. In the second half of the 11th century, the power of the Ise Taira clan spread, and in 1097 (Shotoku 1), more than 15 cho of fields and family land within the village were certified as Rokujo-in land based on a donation by Taira Masamori. From this point on, there was continuous dispute between the Taira clan, who tried to organize the surrounding residents and expand the manor area, and Todaiji, who claimed it as temple land.
