Eastern Jin Dynasty (English spelling)

Japanese: 東晋 - とうしん（英語表記）Dōng Jìn

This was the period when the Jin Dynasty of China abandoned northern China and moved to the south of Jiangnan, with its capital at Jiankang (Nanjing). From 317 to 420, there were 11 generations, from the Yuan Emperor Sima Rui to the Gong Emperor Sima Dewen. At the beginning of the founding of the dynasty, Guo Pu, who divined the dynasty's life expectancy, is said to have said that the dynasty would "live for 200 years." He reversed "102 years" to say "200 years," and the dynasty was destroyed after about 102 years. It is counted as one of the Six Dynasties, along with the Wu Dynasty of the Three Kingdoms and the Four Southern Dynasties, which also had their capital at Jiankang.

中国，晋王朝が華北を放棄し，江南にうつって建康(南京)に都を置いた時代。317年から420年，元帝司馬睿（しばえい）から恭帝司馬徳文まで11代。創業の初めにあたって王朝の命数を占った郭璞（かくはく）は，〈二百年を享（う）けん〉といったという。〈百二年〉をひっくりかえして〈二百年〉といったのであり，およそ102年で滅んだ。おなじく都を建康に置いた三国の呉および南朝4王朝とともに六朝の一つにかぞえられる。
