Dongjiaominxiang (English: Dongjiaomin Lane)

Japanese: 東交民巷 - とうこうみんこう（英語表記）Dōng jiāo mín xiàng

The name of the eastern area within Zhengyangmen Gate, Beijing, China. It is said that the original name Dongjiangmi Lane was corrupted to Dongjiaomin Lane. Since the Second Opium War, the embassies of various countries that had been located here became targets of attacks by the Boxers during the Boxer Rebellion in 1900. The Beijing Protocol, which was concluded after the incident, established the legation area here, and guards from various countries were stationed there. Dongjiaomin Lane, lined with European-style buildings, was a symbol of the invasion of China by the great powers, and this situation continued until the establishment of the People's Republic of China in 1949.

中国，北京市，正陽門内の東の地域名。原名の東江米巷がなまって東交民巷と呼ばれるようになったという。第2次アヘン戦争以来，ここに置かれていた各国使館は1900年の義和団事変に際して義和団の攻撃目標となった。事変後に締結された北京議定書によって公使館区域がこの地に設定され，各国の護衛兵が駐劄（ちゆうさつ）することになる。ヨーロッパ風建築物のたち並ぶ東交民巷は列強による中国侵略の象徴的存在であり，その状況は1949年の中華人民共和国の成立までつづいた。
