Founded in 1946 as a commercial bank succeeding the Yokohama Specie Bank. With the enforcement of the Foreign Exchange Bank Law in 1954, it became the only bank in Japan specializing in foreign exchange, and began issuing financial bonds to raise yen funds in 1962.
