Tenjiku cotton

Japanese:
Tenjiku cotton

It is also called Tenjiku for short. It is said that this name came from the fact that it was first imported from India, but on the other hand, it was marketed with the letter "T" as a trademark, so overseas it is called T-cloth or sheeting. It is a type of plain woven cotton fabric, and there is no clear distinction between coarse cloth and fine cloth, only the thickness and density of the threads are slightly different. The standard for most weaves is 20-count threads for both warp and weft, and the density is about 49 to 51 threads per inch (2.54 cm) for both warp and weft. It is slightly thicker than kanakin, so it is not very suitable for shirting, but it can be used for almost the same purposes as coarse cloth and fine cloth, such as flour bags, white or solid dyed or printed sheets, furoshiki, and linings.
