Also called Omiya-in, this mansion was brought into the limelight when it became Emperor Ichijo's Satodairi in the mid-Heian period. It was located to the east of the Daidairi, between the northeast road and Omiya-oji, and covered a long distance of two cho from east to west. The eastern cho was called Bechinou or Higashi-machi. This mansion originally belonged to Fujiwara no Koretada and his half-brother Tamemitsu, but Tamemitsu passed it on to his daughter as "Shinden no Ue". Saeki Kinyuki bought it and donated it to Higashisanjo-in (Fujiwara no Senshi). The Empress added some modifications to make it a posthumous palace for her son Emperor Ichijo.
