Wiretapping

…It is also called wiretapping. Of these, wiretapping refers to the mechanical means of tapping telephone lines. In addition to cases where a conversation is secretly heard outside the room, or where a conversation is intercepted and recorded using a mechanical device (electronic surveillance or bugging), cases where one party in a conversation records a conversation without the other party's permission, or where a third party listens in and records a conversation with the consent of one party, can also be considered wiretapping in a broad sense.
