Hugo Distler

German composer and organist. He served as organist at the Jacobi Church in Lübeck, and later taught composition and organ at the Higher Conservatories of Stuttgart and Berlin. He had a deep respect for Schütz and Bach, and contributed to the musical life of the German Protestant church through his own compositions and performances. His compositions include many choral pieces, such as "The Christmas Story" (1933) and "Sacred Choral Pieces" (1941). Other works include "Harpsichord Concerto" (1936) and "Organ Sonata" (1939).

ドイツの作曲家，オルガン奏者。リューベックのヤコビ教会のオルガン奏者を務め，その後シュトゥットガルトやベルリンの高等音楽学校で作曲とオルガンを教えた。彼はシュッツとバッハを深く尊敬し，自らも創作と演奏を通じてドイツ･プロテスタント教会の音楽活動に貢献した。作品には合唱曲が多く，《クリスマス物語》(1933)や《宗教的合唱曲集》(1941)が代表作。ほかに《ハープシコード協奏曲》(1936)や《オルガン･ソナタ》(1939)もある。
