naka-no-ma [middle]

〘noun〙① A room in the center of a house. An intermediate room. A room between the entrance, dirt floor, shop, etc. and the inner room. ※Genji (c. 1001-14), Wakana no Shita "The inner room is a place where the emperor should sit . Naka-ma [middle]

[1] The central area surrounded by two regions. Also, between two regions. *Meisho Hokakusho (c. 1502) Kii Province: "There is a place called Kiseki-ari between Koyasan and Furo." [2] A place name in northern Fukuoka Prefecture. Located in the Onga River basin. From the mid-Meiji period onwards, it rapidly developed as a coal mining town in Chikuho, but in 1966 all the coal mines were closed and it became more of a satellite city of Kitakyushu City. There is the Habu Tomb (100 Arhat Cave). It was incorporated as a city in 1958 .

なか‐ま【中間】
