An old town in Hashima County, located on an island in the Kiso River in southern Gifu Prefecture. It belongs to an old weaving region, and the twisting yarn industry is thriving, and it has strong economic ties with Ichinomiya City, Aichi Prefecture. It is close to Kakamigahara City and Gifu City, and has many commuters. It was incorporated into Kakamigahara City in November 2004. 8.02 km2 . Population: 10,177 (2003).

Kawashima [town] [Kawashima]

A former town in Oe County in northern Tokushima Prefecture. The central city area on the south bank of the Yoshino River developed as a castle town for the Kawashima clan in the early modern period, and the Tokushima Line runs through it. The town produces rice and vegetables. Kawashima Park, located at the site of Kawashima Castle, is a famous cherry blossom viewing spot. In October 2004, it merged with Kamojima Town, Yamakawa Town, and Misato Village in Oe County to form Yoshinogawa City. Area: 17.69 km2 . Population: 8,696 (2003).

Kawajima [town]

A town in Hiki District, central Saitama Prefecture. Located on the lowlands on the east bank of the Arakawa River, just north of Kawagoe City. Rice and vegetables are cultivated mainly here. Toyama Memorial Hall and Kotokuji Temple are located here. The Ken-O Expressway runs through the town. Area: 41.63 km2 . Population: 22,147 (2010).
