Cadastral map - Chisekizu

Japanese:
Cadastral map - Chisekizu

A map that shows the boundaries, parcel number, land use, area, owner, etc. of each parcel of land. As an attached map to the land registry, it protects the rights of landowners and is also a basic reference for land readjustment projects and land compensation. In Western European countries such as the UK, Germany, and Switzerland, accurate cadastral maps for the entire country were completed as early as the 1800s. In Japan, the Azakirizu (also called Azazu), which was created nationwide in the early Meiji period, is a type of cadastral map, but because it lacks accuracy as a map, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism is currently working on creating more accurate cadastral maps based on the Land Survey Act that came into effect in 1951 (Showa 26). (Initially under the jurisdiction of the former Economic Planning Agency, transferred to the former National Land Agency in 1974, and has been under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism since 2001.) The scale is 1:500 to 1:1000 for flat areas and 1:2500 to 1:5000 for mountainous areas. A copy of the results will be sent to the Registry, which will then correct the entries in the Land Register.
