A representative historian and Quran scholar of the Abbasid period. Born in Amr, Tabaristan, northern Iran, he died in Baghdad. Renowned as a genius from an early age, he aspired to study at a young age and went to Baghdad to study. After studying under many scholars, he traveled to various places and cities, including Kufa, Syria, and Egypt, where he interacted with great scholars and collected a vast amount of traditions of all kinds that were handed down in each place. After returning to Baghdad, he devoted himself to writing, and wrote his masterpieces, "History of the Prophets and Kings" (Great Annals) and "Tafsir" (Interpretation of the Quran). The former is a representative work of classical Islamic historiography, chronicling the history of Western Asia and the Islamic world from the creation of the world to his time.
