The diary of writer Takami Jun. The eight volumes and nine books were published between 1964 and 1966, both during his lifetime and posthumously, and cover the period from January 1941 to May 1951, focusing on the period before and after Japan's defeat in the war. Sometimes including newspaper clippings, the diary shows his incredible determination to look ahead into difficult times. It is an excellent piece of documentary literature, and also a valuable resource. The posthumous publication, Takami Jun Diary Continued (1975-77), includes the diary up until his death, as well as fragments from his childhood.
