A former town in Kitakoma District, northern Yamanashi Prefecture. It occupies the southeastern slope of the Yatsugatake Mountains, with the Kiyosato Plateau and Utsukushino Mori in the north. Grains, vegetables, and fruit are cultivated. Kiyosato Station on the Koumi Line is located here. 64.66 km2 . 9,837 people (2003). In November 2004, it merged with the towns of Suwa, Nagasaka, Hakushu, Akeno, Oizumi, and Takekawa in Kitakoma District to become a city, Hokuto City.
